Not even illegal, since the stickers are mandated to be there. Nobody said they had to remain in one piece.

I’ve owned a Windstar. Having it impounded would be preferable to actually having to drive it.

Doing that makes it easy to steal the most recent sticker without damaging it. I learned that the hard way.

I’m guessing he hasn’t thought of that. One good trick is to score the sticker with a razor blade after you stick it on. Also, lots of folks don’t think to clean the surface of the previous sticker before they affix the new one.

I always peel off as much as I can before I affix the new sticker.

The stickers in OK were designed to break apart if you tried to peel them off. If they’re on top of the old sticker, the whole stack can be scraped off with a razor blade without breaking the most recent one. That’s how mine was stolen.

Louisiana places the inspection sticker inside the windshield so it can’t be stolen and an officer can stand in the street,  get a good view of your expired sticker, then direct you to a nearby parking lot where other officers will write you a ticket. I learned that one the hard way too.

One January I almost got a ticket because of that. In Florida they change the color of the sticker every year, so in January a policeman can easily tell that a sticker is expired even from a distance. Right after New Year’s I got pulled over for an expired sticker, which I had replaced in November. When I got out of my car to look, I saw my new sticker had been peeled off. But t he police officer let me go when I showed her the registration that I was carrying in my wallet .

In Louisiana they change the color each month. The same thing happened to me, but I got a ticket and had to go to court to show that it was current. The officer wouldn’t accept paperwork in the field.
